Moving in Fujairah
Fujairah is the only emirate on our list that faces the Gulf of Oman, and getting there means crossing the Hajar Mountains. The distance from Dubai is about 120 km, typically 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. The quickest route is the Sheikh Khalifa Highway (E84), a three-lane, roughly 40 km road through the mountains that opened in 2018 and branches off the Maleha Road on the Sharjah side of the border. It bypasses the older road through Al Dhaid and Masafi and its Friday market traffic. When it opened, heavy lorries were not permitted on the new stretch, so we confirm the current rules for the size of truck before choosing between the E84 and the older route.
The mountain section shapes how we pack. Long climbs, descents and bends put more stress on a load than a flat motorway run, so furniture is wrapped, strapped and tied off in the truck with more care than for a short city move, and fragile items are boxed rather than carried loose. A same-day move is realistic for most homes: pack the day before, load in Dubai early, cross the mountains mid-morning and unload in the afternoon. Where you are heading makes a difference too. Merashid, Mirbah, Gurfah, Al Faseel and the town centre are the usual apartment areas, while Al Faseel, Merashid and Dibba, further up the coast, are where most villas are rented. Dibba adds driving time, which we build into the plan.
The paperwork is set by Fujairah. Rented homes are registered through EJAAR with Fujairah Municipality; the landlord starts the contract on the EJAAR portal, adds the unit and tenant details, and both sides sign. Electricity and water are supplied by Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE), the former FEWA, rather than DEWA. Apply for the connection online once the contract is registered.

Which road does the truck take from Dubai to Fujairah?
Usually the Sheikh Khalifa Highway (E84) through the Hajar Mountains, reached via Maleha Road from the Sharjah side. Heavy lorries were not allowed on the new stretch when it opened, so for larger trucks we confirm current rules and may use the older Al Dhaid–Masafi road instead.
