Moving in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is roughly 140 km from Dubai, usually 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes by road along Sheikh Zayed Road (E11), or via Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) when the job starts on the Jebel Ali or Dubai South side. That puts a full household move comfortably inside one working day, provided the packing is done early. Our usual pattern is to pack and load in Dubai in the morning, drive down while the roads are clear, and unload and reassemble in the afternoon. For bigger villas we pack the day before, so moving day is only loading, driving and placing furniture.
Getting onto Abu Dhabi island has its own timing. The Darb toll gates sit on the Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Zayed, Al Maqta and Musaffah bridges, and they charge from 7am to 9am and 3pm to 7pm, Monday to Saturday, with no charge on Sundays and public holidays. We aim to cross outside those windows where we can, because they are also the busiest times on the bridges. Island addresses such as Al Reem Island, with its high-rise towers, or the Corniche and Al Khalidiyah need service-lift bookings and building rules sorted in advance. Villa areas on the mainland, including Khalifa City, Mohammed Bin Zayed City and Al Reef, are easier to load but involve much larger volumes. Yas Island, Saadiyat Island and Al Raha Beach fall in between.
The admin changes as soon as you leave Dubai. Instead of Ejari, tenancy contracts are registered in Tawtheeq, through the DARI or TAMM platforms. Electricity and water now come from TAQA Distribution, which replaced ADDC and AADC across Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. If your contract is registered in Tawtheeq, TAQA often opens the account automatically; otherwise you apply yourself, and TAQA arranges an inspection and connection date. Book that connection before the move.

Dubai to Abu Dhabi is about 150 km, so most moves are done in one long day with an early start. Darb toll gates and the drive are included in our quote.
In Abu Dhabi, tenancy contracts are registered through Tawtheeq, and you need it before utilities can be connected.

Can a Dubai to Abu Dhabi move be done in one day?
For most apartments and medium villas, yes. We load in Dubai in the morning, drive the E11 or E311 and unload the same afternoon. For large villas we pack the day before so the move itself fits in one day. Your fixed quote sets out the plan.
How do I get electricity connected in my new Abu Dhabi home?
Through TAQA Distribution, which now serves Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. If your tenancy is registered in Tawtheeq, the account is often created automatically. If not, apply online or at a customer centre with your contract, passport and Emirates ID, then book the inspection before moving day.
