Moving in Bur Dubai and Karama

Bur Dubai and Karama sit on the western side of the creek, a short drive from our Deira office across Al Maktoum Bridge or through Al Shindagha Tunnel. Most buildings here are low- to mid-rise and date from the late 1980s to the early 2000s, with newer towers grouped around BurJuman and Oud Metha. Al Mankhool combines mid-rise apartment blocks with gated villa compounds; Al Raffa is made up of established apartment buildings; Al Hamriya is mainly studios to two-bedroom flats; Oud Metha mixes residential buildings and compounds. Karama, east of BurJuman, is largely older low-rise blocks, including several wasl-named buildings such as Wasl Hub and Wasl Opal, with Zabeel Park separating it from Sheikh Zayed Road.

The common thread across all of them is parking. Newer towers and villas often have covered spaces, but older blocks may have little private parking or none, and residents then depend on RTA street parking shared with shoppers and visitors, which is at its worst in Karama during the morning and evening peaks. We decide the truck position before the day, arrive early and keep the carry from kerb to lift as short as the street allows. Move approval is usually a matter for the building management or landlord rather than a community authority, and practice varies; some buildings set moving hours, others want the lift reserved.

Main routes are Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street, Kuwait Street and Zaa'beel Street on the Karama side, and Sheikh Rashid Road, Oud Metha Road and Al Mina Road in Bur Dubai. The Red and Green lines meet at BurJuman, with ADCB, Oud Metha, Al Fahidi, Sharaf DG and Al Ghubaiba stations nearby. Residents include office and government staff, families who want schools and clinics close by, and traders and small business owners, so jobs range from a single room to a full family flat or a Mankhool villa. Tenants handing back an older flat can add cleaning or painting to the same booking.

What we plan for on the day

Bur Dubai, Karama and Oud Metha have busy streets and limited parking. We plan loading spots and timing so the truck is not stuck waiting.

Tell us your building or community, the floor and whether there is a service lift, and we will plan crew size, truck and timing before moving day.

Moving in Bur Dubai and Karama: questions

Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp and get an answer in minutes.

My Karama building has no parking. Can you still move me?

Yes. We check the street layout and nearby paid parking in advance, plan where the truck will stand, and time the arrival for quieter hours, usually early morning. If the building has a rear entrance or service lane, tell us; it often shortens the carry and the overall time.

Do I need my building's permission to move out in Bur Dubai?

Usually you need to inform the building management or landlord, and many buildings ask for a lift booking and fixed moving hours. Some may also want proof that rent and utility bills are settled before you leave. Requirements vary by building, so speak to the management office a few days ahead.

How much do movers cost in Bur Dubai and Karama?

It depends on the size of your home, floor and lift access, distance and packing. Send us your move details and we reply with one fixed price for your Bur Dubai and Karama move, with no hidden fees.

Is packing material included?

Yes. Boxes, bubble wrap, stretch film, wardrobe cartons and tape are included in the fixed quote.
