Moving in Al Nahda
The name causes confusion on almost every enquiry we get. Dubai's Al Nahda consists of two sub-communities, Al Nahda 1 and Al Nahda 2, on Dubai's northern border, with Al Qusais to the south and east and Al Mamzar to the west. The neighbourhood carries on across the boundary as Al Nahda in Sharjah, which is under Sharjah's jurisdiction, and the two halves look and feel much the same. Before we quote, we confirm which emirate each address is in, because a move of a few hundred metres across the border changes the paperwork completely.
On the Dubai side, the tenancy goes through Ejari and the utilities through DEWA. On the Sharjah side, the contract is attested by Sharjah City Municipality and the electricity and water are connected by SEWA. The landlord now submits the contract on Digital Sharjah, and attestation and the SEWA connection are handled together in one online Move-In application, paid for by the tenant. If you are moving north across the line, start that application early so the power is on when the truck arrives.
Physically, this is apartment territory. Studios and multi-bedroom flats in towers such as Latifa Tower, Bahwan Tower and Burj Al Nahda make up most of our jobs, and villas are rare. A tower move depends on getting the service lift for a fixed slot, so we ask you to book it with the building management and pass on any rules about removal hours. Al Ittihad Road runs along the edge of the district, and Al Nahda and Stadium metro stations sit close by, which means heavy traffic at commuter times. Most buildings have limited space for a truck to stand, so we plan where it will park before the day rather than looking for a space on arrival. Shoppers heading to Al Mulla Plaza and Sahara Centre add to the traffic in the evenings and at weekends.
