Moving in Dubai Sports City
Dubai Sports City is built around its venues: Dubai International Stadium, the ICC Academy and the Els Club golf course, with housing filling the space between them. That gives it two quite different kinds of move. On one side are mid-rise apartment buildings: Canal Residence West, with its themed towers along a shop-lined promenade, the Elite Sports Residences series, Red Residence, Grand Horizon and others, mostly studios to three bedrooms. On the other is Victory Heights, a villa community of about 1,000 homes around the golf course, in clusters including Estella, Carmen, Esmeralda, Novelia, Morella, Oliva, Calida and Fortuna.
The main approach is from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, with Hessa Street and Al Khail Road linking across to Sheikh Zayed Road. Hessa Street has been widened and its junctions improved, yet traffic around the main exits still slows at busy times. There is no metro station inside the community; buses run along Golf Course Drive, and most residents drive.
Victory Heights is partly gated, with entry through community gates such as the East Gate and West Gate and some clusters gated on their own, so security needs to know the truck and crew are coming. In the towers, each building's management sets its own rules on move approval, service-lift booking and loading-bay hours, and those rules change from one tower to the next. Parking itself is seldom the problem: villas have covered carports and apartment buildings have their own parking. Our work here is mainly apartment moves between Sports City towers and neighbouring JVC or Motor City, and larger Victory Heights villa moves that often run better with a packing day before the truck arrives.
