Moving in International City
International City is laid out as a grid of country-themed clusters in Al Warsan: China, England, France, Persia, Greece, Russia, Spain, Morocco, Italy and Emirates, with the Central District and Lake District alongside and further phases to the side. Nakheel founded it in the mid-2000s. For a mover, the clusters look similar but behave differently: the England cluster's London-style terraces, the French cluster's long windows, and the three- and four-storey stucco blocks of Spain each set the pace of the job, especially where a building has a small lift or only stairs to the upper floors. Warsan Village, the gated enclave on the edge with 942 townhouses and 250 apartments, is a separate case again.
Parking is the first thing we plan here. Since 1 February 2026, on-street parking in International City has been paid and run by Parkin, charged from 8am to midnight every day except Sundays and public holidays, with one free residential permit per eligible unit. A removal truck needs to stand close to the entrance for several hours, so we agree the bay with the building watchman and keep the paperwork on the dashboard. Traffic congestion is a known problem in and around the community, and Dragon Mart next door draws heavy weekend traffic, so a weekday morning start is usually the easiest.
International City appears on published lists of Dubai communities that require a move permit. In Warsan Village, permits go through Nakheel's portal, and Nakheel asks for the Ejari certificate, Emirates ID, passport copy, a recent DEWA bill, the building number and the moving company's trade licence, submitted at least 24 hours before the move. In the country clusters, ask your building management which office issues the permit, as practice differs from building to building. We send our licence and vehicle details on request. Allow time for both ends if you are moving between two clusters, because each building may want its own booking.
